Hi my name is Lonnie Nix and I am a believer in Jesus Christ.

I was raised in a Christian home; knowledge of God has always been part of my life.  To put it in a sentence it would go like this: “Jesus loves me this I know because my mommy told me so.”

I also grew up knowing the call to preach the gospel was upon my life but I resisted it, not wanting to accept the responsibility that goes with it.

My rebellion led me to alcohol and drug use at a very young age, which took me to juvenile hall, C.Y.A., jail, and prison.  Including a N# (narcotics) number in the state prison system.

It was during this time that God clearly spoke to me and called me to the work He had prepared for me.

In my mind I had disqualified myself for any work in His Kingdom.  I could not understand why God would even want to use me, after I had failed at everything.

I did not even have strength to keep clean after so many promises, and losing so much.

God assured me I was forgiven and He had the Power to hold me in His Grace, if I would trust Him and surrender my life to Him.

I told God I would scrub toilets for Him if I could come back in His House.

God said He had a place of honor for me in His Kingdom.

YA!  It was hard to believe.  I argued with God as I sat in the cell in San Quentin Prison.  Just then a little man in a black suit with a big silver cross around his neck came to my cell door.

He introduced himself as Chaplain Ray, and then he told me God had a place of honor for me in His Kingdom.  Also that I had a good heart and God loved me very much.  I had run from God but now was the time to surrender.  He told me, all the things the Spirit of God had just told me in my heart.

I looked up and said, “Ok God, I heard that; I surrender to You.”

God began to tell me what I was to do for Him, including going to the hopeless and the hurting that were down cast.

God has kept all His promises to me, and never failed me once.  He gives me the Power to overcome the devil, the world, and my own flesh.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Phil 4:13
