ME?

By:  Steve McDaniel

Who would have thought me a Christian?  Riding for Jesus?  Is it possible?  The product of divorced parents at age 10.  The oldest of five kids and being told, you’re the man of the house, WHAT?  Then staying with family members, foster homes, my youngest sister being adopted off, evictions, living in motels or wherever someone would let us.  Being introduced to drugs at 13 and dropping out of school in the 7th grade.  Running the streets, then a pregnant girlfriend and married at 19.  Man, I was controlling, and very difficult to live with.

My wife and kids would go to church without me unless the kids had a special event.  But every time I would go to church, it seemed like the Pastor was talking right at me.  After church was over I would go on my way and forget about what I had just experienced.  I ended up getting so jealous of the time my wife spent with the church; I convinced her I found a better way to add to our relationship, involving, sex and alcohol.  I could not have been more wrong.  A co-worker would talk to me about Jesus.  I would say, I work hard, I don’t do drugs anymore, I provide a decent life for my family, I’m a good guy!  I’m right with God? Besides, what church would accept a tattooed, bearded and shaved head guy like me?  I don’t fit in!

Eventually my co-worker convinced me to check out his church.  I think I went just to shut him up.  But this time something happened, a fire ignited in me.  I said to my wife we need to find a church close to home.  We went to a mega church, the Holy Spirit took over I accepted Jesus in my life and was baptized a short time after.  The Supernatural powers pushed me to do more.  The fire was burning inside.  I prayed, Father, what do you want me to do?  Where do you want me to go?  I believe the Lord has placed me where he wants me.  The Journey has jut begun.

THANK YOU JESUS!
